어떤 날, 그녀는 문을 꾸며보기로 마음을 먹었다.
계단 내려가기 전에 나오는 문을 들꽃으로 둘러싸게 만들었다.
자연스럽고 투박하게. 별 이유는 없었다. 그냥 해보고 싶었다.
그녀 옆엔 자연스럽게 선비씨가 서 있다. 아무 말도 하지 않고 그냥 그녀를 바라봐 주고 있다. 그걸로 충분하다.
10개의 계단을 내려가 열쇠로 아랫문을 열고 들어간다.
중간쯤 있을 삶을 보고 싶었다. 503번 문 앞으로 갔다.
문을 열자 커다란 복스런 나무가 길 옆에 서 있다.
웬 젊은 남자가 나무에 발이 묶여 거꾸로 매달려 있었다.
큰길 옆이라 사람들이 발견할 만한 장소인데 남자만 대롱대롱 달려 있다. 아무도 없다.
오래 매달려 있을 것 같았다. 점점 말라가는 모습이 예상되어 안타깝다.
갑자기 우습다. 이 전생에 대한 의심스러운 구석이 생겼다.
최근에 그녀는 타로 책을 보기 시작했는데 거기서 본 그림의 내용이랑 비슷했다.
매달린 사람. The Hanged Man. 하, 이거 좀 재미없다는 생각이 든다.
이 매달린 남자와는 무슨 연관이 있지? 역시 상상이었던 것인가.
그녀는 늘 이런 식이었다. 뭔가 잘될 것 같으면 의심부터 하는 인간.
그저 내가 본 카드 그림이 나온 거라고, 상상이라고 생각해버리는.
하지만 그 많은 카드 중에 왜 하필 그 카드였을까. 어쩌면 특별한 연관성이 있다고 물고 늘어져야 하는 걸까.

She feels sorry, imagining him gradually withering away.
Suddenly, it’s funny. A suspicious corner appears regarding this past life. Recently, she started looking at a tarot book, and it was similar to the images she saw there. The Hanged Man. Ha, this feels a bit uninteresting, she thinks. What connection does she have with this hanging man? Was it imagination after all? She was always like this. A person who doubts first when something seems to be going well. Someone who dismisses it as just the card image she saw, as imagination. But why that card among so many? Should she perhaps insist that there must be some special connection?
